KaneBot: Generation 3 1.0 a2 has been sent out to all the beta testers, except SoNoR, because I don't have his email address on file (SoNoR, email me at kane@kbserver.homeip.net to fix that...).

Also, I have upgraded my server machine from 32MB physical RAM to 96MB of physical RAM (and an additional 32MB of virtual RAM for a total of 128MB), and upgraded from a 1.2GB hard drive to a 4.3GB hard drive. The server now runs MUCH faster (at least on my end...), and I also have more room for more files, as well as noone should be getting any email errors due to my hard drive being full.

Have a scary halloween...!

...some more changes in the to to-be-released KB: G3 a2...

€ The "Connect" button in the New Connection(s) window now verifies that the connection data entries have valid data, and then adds the connection entires themselves, and then takes you to the KaneBot Monitor window. KaneBot still cannot connect, though. When the chat interface window is added, you will be able to reach it by double-clicking on any of the connection entries in the monitor's list, or by selecting the connection entry and clicking on the "Show Interface" button below the list. Meanwhile, doing so will do nothing.

€ Modified the New Connection(s) window's connection data overview list's update code. It now uses a single method, instead of having different parts of the update strewn accross several methods that SHOULD occur (but might not). This is to help with debugging and to make it much easier to add/remove/change any connection data overview list updating code.

€ Increased the speed at which KaneBot's interface currently runs by disabling the "Auto-Disable" feature of all controls. For some stupid reason, RB likes this on, even though it can as much as quadruple the time it takes to update the interface.

Amazing that almost two weeks have already past... seems like only a few hours ago that I said I'd need at least 4 weeks :/

To the beta testers...
KaneBot: Generation 3 a2 will be released in a day or two. Here's a list of bug fixes and implementations...

  1. Tracked down and fixed a bug in the New Connection(s) window which would remove an incorrect connection data entry when told to remove an entry.
  2. Changed the "Tunnel" column in the New Connection(s) window listbox. It is now wider, and provides for data. Instead of only displaying "True" or "False", it now displays "False/None" or "True/(%TunnelType)".
  3. Minor change to the text next to the "Tunnel Username" field. It now says "(blank for anonymous)".
  4. Implemented the SOCKS 5 code. When the connections are allowed, they will (at this current stage...) support direct connections, WinGate tunnels and SOCKS 5 tunnels. SOCKS 4 support is currently "under construction".

To be truthful, the first beta of KB: G3 is far from ready, especially because of complications in the binary parsing methods... creating a "cross-protocol" socket is actually pretty hard, and I'm getting the most difficulties in converting the different data types in a simple and elegant coding fasion.

As stated before, the first beta will not be released until KaneBot is able to send and receive binary chat packets (regardless of the projected release date), and this still remains true.

I will not let the quality of KaneBot be bound to projected release dates, thus I must delay the release of the first beta at least 4 weeks so I can have ample time to work some more on the connection creation and socket code. It needs it, and it will get it. Enough said. That's final. Stop asking me for what I have at the moment. I said STOP! *covers ears and hums some songs* Nananana! I can't hear you!

...I must get ready for church now, or I can expect to be grounded for the next week.

Welcome to KaneBot's new home on my private server. An automatic redirect link page has been implemented at the old KaneBot site, on clan-mac.com.

Some of you may think this is an unwise choise, but I beleive it is not. Moving to my server removes me from any constraints that clan-mac had, and gives me full control. I can now do to the site as I wish. I think one of the biggest advantages will be that I've learned how to use SSI, and have implemented it into my server and site. Now, there will be no more frames and I can still modify the top, left, and top left panels with ease.

I need some things from you, the users...

There will most likely be more things I need from you guys, but that's it so far...
