BNLS Info

The reason BNLS is down is that for some reason, the host of the server (sprintlink) has decided to do something funky; a traceroute returns host unreachable. Additionally, when it DOES come back online, all KaneBots will be disabled. The beta test has been successful, and yet it's only that: a test.
I hope you enjoyed the extra time you had with the bot (I had planned on disabling it on the 20th, but didn't get around to it), and I look forward to sharing the next release with you, the users, when it's available (it's not yet available).

BNLS has been down for a while, this is the source of anyone's BNLS problem
Also, I'm still having trouble with REALbasic, and have not gotten any work done for the past week or so.
Lastly I've got some more family business that will prevent me from doing a whole lot of work (eg, trying to find a fix for REALbasic) for the next week or two.

I was trying to get REALbasic 5 to work, and now neither REALbasic 5 nor REALbasic 4.5 work.
So, for the past 4 days or so, I've been trying to fix the problem, but to no avail (so far). I'm
going to be copying RB 4.5 to my brother's computer, to see if the problem exists there, and if
so, then I know it's out of my hands, and I'll have to forage for a new copy. If not, then I'll
proceed to reinstall my Mac OS installation. Hopefully, this won't be too painful...
Screenshots, and Battlegram author's email address removed.

This week's screenshots (from you, the users) have been posted to the screenshots page.
One of the screenshots is of KaneBot under Mac OS X... be sure to take a look!
Also, Nick Zitzmann, author of Battlegram, has asked me to remove the link to his email address, from the bot competition. As such, it has been removed.
No screenshots this week :(

No one has sent me a screenshot of KaneBot. So, there's no screenshot for this week.
Hopefully, there'll still be a screenshot for next week.
So far...

Just before I went to bed last night, I saw someone already downloading KaneBot from my server, just under an hour after it had been released... Then, when I woke up this morning, I logged on and saw 15 bots on. Wow, news spread much faster than I had anticipated... so far, the peak usage has been around 20 bots... This is very motivating for me! :D
So far, I'm very pleased with the test. Most of you are complimenting me on how good of a job I've done, and especially on how easy it is to work with the bot. I've already found several bugs that I would not have found (too lazy =P) without you guys, some of Valhalla Legends are complaining about all the botnet spam I've created for Mac bots, and etc.
But, I've noticed that some of you are having trouble logging on with certain CD keys, and/or
software emulation. If you are having such trouble, please verify you have entered your CD key,
username, and passwords correctly. If you have not, then connecting will fail. If you see the
following message, then your CD key is valid:
Battle.net has accepted the game version and CD key(s).
Also, anyone who logs onto WarCrat 3 will not see any user icons, because Battle.net does not (currently) allow the download of the WarCraft 3-specific icons file, and that icon file does not exist in KaneBot's download cache. In the next version, KaneBot will automatically search for the default icons file if the server-specified file is not found.
For some reason, sometimes when you switch panels, the window will not refresh, which causes the window to be a blank blue screen. To fix this, you'll need to change the size of the window. I don't know the cause of this problem, and have not experienced it myself with KaneBot, but have experienced it with a different project. I'll look more deeply into this problem.
I would like the upcoming screenshot(s) of the week to be one of you, the users. Anyone who wants to participate, please send a screenshot of you using KaneBot. I'll post some of the ones which I think are better than the rest on Monday. Any objectionable content in the screenshot will be filtered from the screenshot, if the screenshot gets posted.
Lastly, I will have some family business during the next week and a half, and might not get as much time to work on KaneBot as I would wish.

Yes, you've read the news topic correctly, KaneBot is now available for download!
Though KaneBot is now available for download, please remember that it is still a development version aimed at giving me input regarding the interface, as well as information on any bugs which I may have missed (so far). As such, this version of KaneBot will be disabled on or about April 20, 2003. Hopefully, I will have a newer version available for you all by that time.
Don't feel bad...

You're not the only one that was fooled by my cruel joke today... :)
Meanwhile, I hope to have a version of KaneBot available sometime this week for download, so that I can receive input regarding the user interface. The version will be disabled 2 weeks after its release.
Have a nice day.

I've decided to cancel KaneBot. Too few people, not enough email, and... well, it's just not getting done. Maybe you want some source code? It's for sale.
